It's beginning to look a lot like...

CHRISTMAS!!!!! I don't know if I said this, but I really like Christmas time. It's a great time for giving and I like to give. I HATE trying to find gifts though. I usually go overboard because I want to find just the perfect gift for the person.

This year, it was easy for me to get something for the bf. I got him 2 Roots shirts. The Roots are our favorite band/hip hop group. We've been to like 4 of their shows in our travels. Everytime we see them though, we never have cash to buy shirts. So I ordered them online. Quick and easy. We ended up opening gifts last night because we couldn't wait to share them. He loved the shirts! I was excited about that.

I was excited to find that he got me a GPS! I'm forever getting lost so this was the perfect gift for me. I got so lost moving from VA to NY that I ended up on the Jersey Turnpike when I was supposed to be 3 hours west of it. How I did this...I have no clue. Google maps failed me for sure that day.

On another topic but kinda along the same lines, I was unemployed for a long time. I graduated college, went to work for a company in the OBX for the summer, moved in with the bf in VA for awhile and then started working at a temp agency. I worked with them until about December of 07 then the position was over. It was about Christmastime anyway so I figured, I would start looking again at the start of the year. Well my bf and I come back from our respective families the day after Christmas. We show each other the gifts and then we go out to lunch. We come back from lunch and our place has been robbed. Bye Bye Christmas gifts :( It was also goodbye to our electronics, cash, and to my bf's Master's Thesis that he had been working on for months plus all of his research. Thank goodness he had just backed up the data on his Jump drive a few weeks before but still. So...we were freaked out to say the least so we were able to move into a hotel while the BF broke his lease.

While we lived in a hotel for a few months, I was unemployed. I was looking for jobs in Charlotte and in Norfolk but wasn't having much luck at all. BF moved to Charlotte for awhile while I moved in with my mom. She pretty much let me mooch off of her for 3 months. I don't know who could put up with my unemployed butt for 3 months. This is the reason why if I won a Sear's Gift card worth $100 I would get her this Sears # 04421723000. It's a Journey Diamond Swirl Pendant. She means a lot to me and she took care of my butt when she didn't have to. I'm finally employed so I got her some Yankee Candle stuff this Christmas since I can't quite afford super nice jewlery yet!
There is this contest from Sears where they are giving away a $100 gift card. I found out about it by reading this blog: http://table4five.net/2008/12/16/win-a-100-sears-gift-card-and-grant-a-wish/

hello

Hello again Blog.

Sorry I didn't write earlier. I had a pretty nice weekend. I played some Left 4 Dead with my bf and we went Christmas shopping for gifts for our families. We were standing in line at Dick's Sporting Goods after picking up a pull cart for Jeff's mom and this old lady comes up to us and tells us how bad the pull carts are for your back. We were just like...Um..Thanks and turned away.
I'm not a fan of snow at all. It snowed again last night and for once, the schools had a 2 hour delay so that means our streets don't get plowed until right before the bus is going to run. That also means that I had to drive to work in slush this morning :( Not fun at all. Thankfully, my wonderful boyfriend cleaned off my windows before he went to work this morning. Super sweet guy.

I also just want to say that I love Oprah. She's pretty great. Her magazine is a good read. It is uplifting and has informative articles. Sometimes she opens my eyes to different situations going on around the globe. I'm totally in the same boat with her regarding her weight issues. She keeps bouncing around with her weight due to stress and media pressure. I'm sure it's hard to be a bigger black woman on daytime tv. I mean, look at Star Jones, she ended up getting all her fat sucked out and then she became ugly...well...uglier. haha..

Day 2

So as I said before, there isn't much to do around the town that I live in. I mean, there is STUFF to do but not much for a homebody like me. I'm doing horrible at going to the gym. If it's cold outside, I do not like to be out. If I want to go to something, I usually don't want to go alone because people around here are freaking scary. There are hardly any bars or clubs to hang out that are close by. We don't like to drink and drive so we would have to pay for a taxi there and back as well as pay for drinks for the night. I have no clue what we are doing this weekend. I hope we are killing some zombies in left 4 dead. Maybe we should go to the casino. I've never been and it would be something to do. Plus they have some drink specials.

So I've ordered most of my Christmas presents. This year I decided if I'm going to buy things for people, it should help other people in some way also. I ordered a bunch of things from TheBreastCancer site. For one, each click helps fund a mammogram for someone who can't afford on. Secondly, part of the cost of the purchases go toward the mammograms also. Breast cancer is a big deal to me because my grandma and my aunt were both touched by it so I think more research is needed in this area for sure.

I got accepted to be a reviewer of books yay! Here's a link to the book I'm going to be reading http://www.thomasnelson.com/consumer/product_detail.asp?sku=0785227814 Looks pretty interesting!

Well that's all I've got for now! later

This is New...

Hello Blog world. I haven't blogged in a long time and I figured I was getting a little old for Xanga and that my friends don't really read my blogs on Myspace so here I am. I doubt very many people will read this but it's ok. I just needed a new place to write. PLUS I think I want to start reviewing books so I needed a blog to do this. I like free books...a lot.

So let me introduce myself. My name is Regina. I'm currently living in Vestal, New York with my boyfriend of 2 years. My relationship is on a rocky point at the moment due to a recent fight but hopefully we will get over it soon. I work at a newspaper. It's pretty interesting. I just started a few weeks ago. Today we had layoffs of people. This is my first like "real" job with like a 401k and stuff so it was shocking that they just let people go in the middle of the week, right at Christmas time but I guess people had been preparing for this for awhile.

My wonderful boyfriend and I moved up here from North Carolina so the cold weather that we are currently getting is a shock to us. It will be snowing later this week for sure. It's also pretty scary being really far away from my friends and family but I guess I'm adjusting. Pretty much there isn't much to do here when it's cold...or when it's warm either :( Oh well... Things will get better soon I hope!

Alright blog, that's me in a nutshell. I'm going to go grab dinner and watch Fringe on the DVR!
